In June 2024, ABP announced an industry-leading programme, the ‘Energy Ventures Accelerator’ (EVA) to help promising startups scale their businesses in high-growth energy sectors, such as hydrogen, floating wind and low-carbon fuels.
The Energy Ventures Accelerator will be delivered in partnership with Plug and Play, the world’s leading innovation platform and venture capital investor. ABP is the first UK port operator to partner with Plug and Play, which has a world-wide network of over 550 corporate partners and 65,000 startups in its network.
The EVA programme is open to startups, innovators, or investors tackling challenges in floating offshore wind, industrial decarbonisation, low-carbon fuels, or CCS. We particularly welcome applications from women, ethnic minority people and other underrepresented groups.
First EVA Humber Innovation Day
In November 2024, the inaugural EVA Humber Innovation Day in Hull saw record attendance. Organised as part of ABP’s Energy Ventures Accelerator (EVA) programme, the event welcomed many stakeholders across businesses, academia, local councils and other partner organisations in the Humber region. This follows an EVA Inclusive Energy event organised in October 2024, which provided a forum to discuss how businesses can work together to champion more inclusive growth and support founders and investors from under-represented backgrounds.
